Introduction

Cloudvisor is one of the leading AWS consulting partners in the Baltic (Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia) and Nordic markets. They provide support to companies regarding all things AWS-related: consultancy, cost-optimization recommendations, and hands-on support. They love startups (probably as much as we love llamas) and they excel in supporting young companies in growing their businesses on AWS.

We met the Cloudvisor marketing team when the company decided to execute a rebranding project. While other companies were involved in the logo and social media new visual identification, we were asked for a website redesign. Over about 4 months, we held marketing workshops, identified benchmarks and inspirations for the final web design, prepared wireframes and final designs, delivered the beta version of the website, implemented changes to the development version, and delivered the final product.

The starting point for the project

Our main goal was to present the range of services (especially AWS resell services) to potential customers. We were asked to deliver a website with a dedicated design on the one hand and an easily adjustable content management system on the other hand. Together with the client, we depicted the most important modules and features and we delivered them with the help of ACF (Advanced Custom Fields plugin). This way each subpage template has a range of modules and features ready to use.

The goal was to make the new website look more modern, fast, and SEO-friendly. Cloudvisor planned to run their marketing campaigns in the near future, so we were asked to deliver HubSpot pre-developed Landing Page templates and e-mail templates.

The goals and perspective at the start of the project:

  • Clean web design
  • New copywriting and new content architecture
  • Easy UX and features that would be useful for visitors
  • RWD (based on bootstrap breakpoints)
  • Cross-browser/platform support
  • HubSpot integration for Newsletter and Contact forms
  • HubSpot chatbot integration
  • Modules and sections for Hubspot pre-developed landing pages and email templates
  • Google Speed Insights optimization
  • Implementation of Google Tag Manager tracking tags and conversion tracking for Google Analytics

The Approach

The website is fully compliant with WordPress and ACF (Advanced Custom Fields) standards. The main technologies used for this project are: PHP, JS, and WordPress. The main theme had been created based on the wireframing process. Our designer drew overviews of the key subpages in order to establish the structure and flow of possible design solutions. The design phase included designs made for mobile and desktop screen views as well.

For the HubSpot integration, we started with Newsletter and Contact form synchronisation with the internal HubSpot CRM system. Thanks to this, every contact request lands in the system where the right salesperson can be assigned to the new potential client.

The next step was modules and section creation for Hubspot pre-developed landing pages. Hubspot Design Manager makes it possible to build custom-coded templates. Custom modules offer a wide range of functionalities so that content can be fully customised within the page or email editor.

Multi-step questionnaire for entrepreneurs

Cloudvisor loves startups. Their services are much appreciated by that particular target audience, so we were asked to create an entire subpage filled with content that will be addressed specifically to the entrepreneurs. In order to facilitate the contact between these two parties, we made a custom, multi-step questionnaire. This is a kind of slightly more advanced contact form that gathers all the information that is important at the start of cooperation (such as the size of the startup or the monthly budget for AWS services). Of course, all the answers are saved in CRM.

HubSpot live chat implementation

HubSpot is a great marketing tool and their live chat is one of the most customizable on the market. Since in our client business, prompt reactions to customer needs is crucial, we configured a widget that visitors can click to start a real-time conversation with someone on Cloudvisor’s team

Page Speed Insights optimization

In our company, we develop every website in order to fulfil the most important aspects (when it comes to the Google Page Speed Insights score and general website performance). This is the list of "good practices" that we implemented for the Cloudvisor website, but in fact, they are core in every project:
- Load library improvements (lazy load any html elements (e.g. images, videos, etc.)
- Above the Fold vs. Below the Fold (style differentiation)
- Asynchronous CSS loading implementation
- SASS (compilation, minifying) - we do prefer BEM
- the process of minifying CSS and JS by using Gulp
- reduction of useless plugins

Results

Being a partner for startups requires thinking, acting, and looking how they do, so Cloudvisor wanted to keep in mind these 3 terms while developing a new website: fast, innovative, quick to adapt). They wanted to be seen as an early-stage company partner who is modern, well-educated in the subject matter with lots of experience, and has the client’s best interests in mind. We believe that the current website expresses all of that quite clearly.
